Hi! My name is Delaney, and I love to help people learn. I graduated with highest honors from UNC Chapel Hill in 2024; my degree was in English with a concentration in Writing, Editing, and Digital Publishing and a minor in Creative Writing. I now am a second-year graduate student, teaching assistant, and writing consultant in the MFA Fiction Writing Program at UNC Greensboro. I know--that's a lot of information. But hopefully it shows how dedicated I am to the craft of writing! The only thing I love more than working with students and learners is my writing.
I've spent a lot of time working one-on-one with students of all ages--particularly high school and college-aged, though. I've tutored students who are non-native English speakers, students who struggle with literacy, students who have learning and developmental disabilities, and many, many students who have just never felt like writing is something they're good at. I firmly believe that everyone has the capability to be a successful, confident writer, reader, and communicator; my specialty is helping my students feel that way, too.
As a tutor, I prioritize flexibility and adaptability. Life is crazy--especially if, like many of us are, you're balancing work, school, and a personal life! I like to make sure my students know that sessions with me don't always have to be consistent or intensely structured. If you have a varying schedule, our sessions can adapt to that; I also allow cancellation up to four hours before an appointment, because I completely understand that other commitments can be unexpected. And if you come in one day wanting to work on something new that we haven't previously discussed or feeling like you just want my take on a new project, I'll dive right in with you. I will always, always meet you where you're at. All you need is to bring yourself and your willingness to try, and together, we'll work on making you into a more confident reader, writer, communicator, test taker, student, creative, or individual!
