I have been an educator and tutor for fifteen years. I teach at the freshman college level, which makes me ideal for working with advanced high school students and overwhelmed college freshmen. I have rescued many high school and college students from disastrous academic situations and helped prepare them for success. In addition, I have spent the past 15 years helping to prepare students for college entrance exams (SAT and ACT), the ASVAB, and graduate school entrance exams (GRE and GMAT). I am confident that I can help you!
I have a one-on-one approach to tutoring where I seek to find your primary interests and then present the academic material to you in those terms. Do you love sports, do you like to read, do you play video games, or are you into nature - that will be my approach to tutoring you. I have been very successful with this approach over the years. Have you been looking for a tutor who can really 'break it down' for you? Contact me and let's get to work. I have been an educator and tutor for fifteen years. I'm currently taking a college Intro to Algebra class. Elvira walked me through the steps of problems, provided added resources that would allow me to become more confident, and made the whole math experience less daunting. If you're looking for a tutor I highly recommend Elvira.
We were very pleased with Elvira's tutoring techniques. After the first session, my daughter's weekly test grade was much improved. She was ecstatic when she got her test back, and so was her Mom! Not only is she teaching my daughter math, she is building her confidence to succeed in Math. My daughter's grandmother, a teacher for 30 years in Science, was present for her first tutoring session, and she was very impressed. Her words were "Elvira is a remarkable tutor". We look forward to our weekly sessions with her!
She's teaching me math for my goal to join the military. She explains everything very well i would recommend Ms. Elvira to anyone. 10 thumbs up
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have over 14 years of career development experience. In the education arena, I have taught career development courses at the community college level and worked in a college Career Services office. I have reviewed countless resumes for job seekers and conducted dozens of mock interviews for potential applicants. In the corporate arena, I have interviewed literally hundreds of applicants for customer service, manufacturing, and clerical positions.
I currently work in the community college system with first year and transfer students. I have helped numerous students with the collage admissions process while tutoring them for the SAT and/or ACT. In addition, I recently ran a college application boot camp over the summer for rising juniors and seniors.
