I've been a classroom teacher by profession for the last 6 1/2 years, in middle school thru college, with experience tutoring and teaching piano on and off for the past 20 years. I have a PhD in medieval philosophy/ethics and and love helping people of all grade levels learn across a variety of academic subjects (and in piano too!). My interests range from math, writing and grammar (sentence diagramming, anyone?) and languages (basic French and early-advanced Latin) to standardized test prep (SAT/ACT/GRE), philosophy, theology, to piano. Having connected with students who struggle with learning disabilities, who are academically advanced, or both, I strongly encourage independence and personal confidence in students. A classically-trained pianist, I also ran a private piano studio for 3 years, with a strong focus on technique. I enjoy volunteering on a small, regenerative farm, baking with sourdough, boxing, listening to audiobooks (some favorites are Tolstoy and Tolkien), and spending time with my four nephews and nieces in town, all under 8 years old.
