With a robust academic background in Psychology, Instructional Design, and Educational Technology, I have dedicated my career to enhancing the educational experiences of students, particularly those who struggle due to gaps in foundational skills. As a published researcher and instructional specialist, I focus on leveraging technology to accelerate learning, ensuring that every student has the opportunity to succeed. My tutoring experience spans all grade levels, but I find the most fulfillment in building from the ground up, fostering a solid foundation that students can build upon. I am a strong advocate for Mastery Learning, a philosophy that emphasizes the importance of mastering a skill before progressing to the next. I firmly believe that with the right instruction, tools, and sufficient time, all students can achieve their academic goals.
My methodology, "One2One Mastery," has been implemented across 14 states, where I have trained and employed over 200 teachers to adopt this effective approach. One of my proudest accomplishments was the implementation of my program in an afterschool tutoring initiative in Eudora, Arkansas. Initially, students in this program demonstrated a mere 17% proficiency in reading and 19% in math. However, through dedicated effort and the application of my teaching strategies, we achieved remarkable results in less than four years, with students scoring 97% proficiency in reading and 100% in math. This success was recognized with four awards from the University of Arkansas, underscoring the impact of building strong relationships with students. I believe that when students feel connected and supported, they become intrinsically motivated to perform not just for me, but for themselves. Involving parents in the educational process further strengthens this support system, creating a holistic environment conducive to learning and growth.
