My name is Patrick, and I am a graduate of Belmont Abbey College. I have a Bachelor's of Science degree in Biology. I loved my science classes at the Abbey, because my professors made the living world sound fascinating. This is how I like to approach my lessons for my students: Make the world sound exciting!

My favorite subject is Genetics, because I love learning (and explaining) how a small molecule (DNA) can create the diverse forms of life we see, and continue to discover, on Earth, even though we only use 4 bases to create said life. But I also enjoy teaching Anatomy, Forensics, and Microbiology. Each has their own fascinating topics.

I have been teaching for over 8 years in North Carolina, and have worked to help students understand the living world around them. Many students have expressed gratitude for the way I break down information and find ways to make the material relevant to their culture through analogies and shared interests. I provide lesson plans, through Canvas and Google Classroom, that help guide students through the material. My lessons always start with a hook, what I like to call an Engager, that tests/checks the level of knowledge of the student. Then, I give students 15 minutes to complete a set of notes, which will act as a guide for the activities I have planned. My activities typically cover a range of modalities that students can use to learn (oral, audio, visual, or kinesthetic learning). Students always receive a timeframe for when the activities should be completed. Afterwards we debrief through Checks for Understanding or Exit Tickets. I take that data to build a reloop into the next lesson, to help close any gaps or break any misconceptions students may still have about the subject.

My ultimate goal is for students to walk away confident that, whether they're preparing for a test (EOC/AP Exam/Final Exam), or just trying to prepare for a project at school, they're armed with everything they need to get the best grade they can achieve.

Approved Subjects

Anatomy

Anatomy

I help students confidently master the complex structures and functions of the human body. I specialize in breaking down dense medical terminology, tissue histology, and intricate organ systems into clear, memorable visual frameworks. My data-driven approach focuses on common student bottlenecks—such as homeostatic feedback loops and biochemical pathways—to ensure true content mastery. Whether your student is recovering credits, prepping for an advanced health science track, or looking for a competitive edge, I tailor each session to build bulletproof study habits and academic confidence.
Astronomy

Astronomy

As an active science teacher at Palisades High School, I have successfully taught Astronomy for the past two years, with my students consistently achieving high rates of content mastery. My instruction focuses on breaking down complex cosmic systems into engaging, visual concepts, including the electromagnetic spectrum, stellar evolution, and the intricate interactions between the Sun, Earth, and Moon. I specialize in helping students grasp abstract topics like interstellar distances, the formation of the solar system, and constellations. Whether your student needs immediate course support or wants a fascinating summer enrichment experience, I tailor every session to match their unique pace and learning goals.
Biology

Biology

With over 9 years of active classroom experience teaching high school Sciences within Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, I know exactly how to guide students to true content mastery in Biology. I specialize in breaking down complex topics like macromolecule synthesis, cellular respiration, genetics, and ecology into highly intuitive, visual mental models. Having repeatedly taught CMS summer school cycles, I am uniquely skilled at targeted credit recovery and intensive prep that directly addresses common student misconceptions. Whether your student wants to get ahead for Honors or needs to pass an upcoming biology module, I provide the precise data-driven support they need to succeed.
Ecology

Ecology

Leveraging my 9+ years of classroom instruction within Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, I help students master the complex, interconnected systems of Ecology and Earth & Environmental Science. I specialize in breaking down energy transfers, population dynamics, biogeochemical cycles, and community interactions into intuitive visual frameworks. My data-driven approach prepares students for rigorous coursework by focusing heavily on graph interpretation, data analysis, and scientific modeling. Whether your student is getting a head start on advanced coursework or completing a summer biology module, I provide the practical tools they need to excel.
Physiology

Physiology

As an active Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools science teacher with over 9 years of experience, I specialize in helping students master the functional mechanisms of the human body. I break down complex homeostatic feedback loops, biochemical pathways, and organ system operations into clear, easy-to-understand visual models. My instruction targets common student bottlenecks—like neurobiology and cardiovascular mechanics—to transform dense physiological data into intuitive concepts. Whether your student is prepping for advanced health science tracks or aiming for a top grade this semester, I provide the precise support they need to succeed.
