I graduated with a degree in Applied Statistics from BYU in 2023. During my time there, I had a few tutoring opportunities, including working as a TA for a semester. I currently teach piano, and the majority of my students are between 10-14 years old.

Teaching brings me a lot of fulfillment, and I'm a firm believer that we can always learn new things, even after finishing a formal education. I believe in being extremely patient with students. I enjoy encouraging them to be creative and find the joy in learning, but I also fully understand that developing the fundamentals is crucial to give them the tools they'll need to express said creativity. Finally, I try to explain the theory behind the subjects I teach (when applicable) rather than just the reasoning behind the surface-level answer.

Algebra 1

Algebra 1

Algebra is the backbone of basically everything that I did for my degree in applied statistics. I love teaching the general principles of algebra, and I think that it's a valuable skill that everyone should understand on at least a basic level, even if they aren't going to use it directly in their job.
English

English

I have had multiple jobs that involved writing and reviewing text in a professional setting for a span of about 4 years. I am highly familiar with common words that get confused with one another, as well as the pitfalls of grammar. I have a bachelor's degree and wrote numerous college essays with grades exceeding 90%.
Essay Writing

Essay Writing

During my time at university, I wrote dozens of essays. To my recollection, not a single one received a grade lower than 85% and most of them were 95% or above. I was a TA for an essay-driven class, and subsequently graded hundreds of essays following the classic three-body-paragraph structure. I understand not only the grammar and basic English that are necessary to succeed when writing an essay, but also the common pitfalls that students fall into along the way.
Microsoft Excel

Microsoft Excel

My job requires use of Microsoft Excel more than any other program. I am in spreadsheets multiple hours per day, manipulating and formatting data. I am notably proficient in the keyboard shortcuts available in Excel, and I'm a firm believer that adopting them doubles or even triples your work speed.
Piano

Piano

I have been playing piano for 18+ years, and have been teaching piano for 2 years. I believe in fostering creativity, but that music theory and practicing the basics is how students can really stretch their wings later. Specifically, I'm a fan of tetrarchs and how they relate to the circle of fifths. When students have basic principles well understood, I then incorporate aspects of improvisation and playing by ear into my curriculum.
Statistics

Statistics

I graduated in 2023 with a bachelor's degree in applied statistics from Brigham Young University. My greatest strengths lie in multiple linear regression (MLR), though I helped to teach students the basic principles of statistics on numerous occasions. Perhaps more than any other subject in math, I believe that stats is crucial to understanding research and watching out for false information on the internet.
Visual Basic

Visual Basic

At my current job, I work in Microsoft Excel for multiple hours a day. In recent months, I have been tasked with creating a series of macros that our team can use to automate many of the processes we do. VBA is where I create those tools, and I have come to be quite proficient in it. My tutoring will match your level of general programming knowledge; if you aren't familiar with "for loops," "if statements," or functions, I can teach such things.
