Dear Prospective Student:
I am an Egyptian native, born in the city of Alexandria. I lived there for over thirty (30) years. I graduated from Alexandria University with my first degree in Egyptian Law. I also took degrees in Tourism & Hotels and Egyptology. My job after college was as a tour guide. I LOVED this job. I got to meet a variety of people from other countries and show them the beautiful historical places, the culture and the people of Egypt. I am passionate about my native country and its' interesting stories. In my mind I was a teacher and my students were the tourists in my group.
So my native language is Egyptian Arabic which is the most recognizable dialect of Arabic. For spoken Arabic, I prefer to teach conversational Arabic. If the student is new to the language, we would start with simple words and phrases that could be used in everyday conversation. I would also have photos of Egypt and/or other Middle Eastern countries, and I would teach history lessons based on these photos. I could also teach reading and writing. If the student has particular topics in which they are interested, we could incorporate lessons regarding these topics.
I would be very excited to teach Arabic, Egyptian history and monuments or Islamic history and monuments to anyone. I would love to share the culture and language of my native country with students in the U.S., my home now for over 10 years.
Thank you so much.
