Music is my passion! With over 15 years of marching, concert, jazz band, and choir experience, I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music and Licensure in Music Education (K-12) from Elizabeth City State University. I am a vocalist, a musician, an arranger/composer, teacher, gospel minister, and minister of music.

I started singing at a very young age and learned to play several musical instruments: the piano, organ, trombone, sousaphone/tuba, trumpet, saxophone, and melodica among others. I taught high school band, choir, and general music for 7 years. Then started my own company to provide quality music services, first, to my local community and now to schools and individuals around the world. I have arranged music for all levels: beginner's bands, middle and high school bands, and for five Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) in the United States.

My teaching style is life-centered and humorous with careful emphasis on balance, harmony, and relevance. I am a hard worker that agrees with the philosophy, "a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down". You see, having fun through the learning process helps to create memorable visual, auditory, and contextual tags within our brains that we can then utilize for recall. It's my personal, "tried and true" method for test taking - creating an experience surrounding the content you must remember; that is how you master it.

Last and never the least, I am a licensed gospel minister, dedicated to working with both believers and non-believers to reach their highest potential in life. I provide a safe, skill-nurturing environment for all and I am committed to seeing the people that I serve become the absolute best version of themselves!

Bible Studies

I became a licensed minister in August of 2011. I am currently the Assistant Pastor of my home church, where I have also served as Minister of Music for 20 years. Throughout my Word and music ministry I have served almost all of the churches within the my local Missionary Baptist Association; and, I actively participate in evangelism across denominations.
Composition (Music)

Composition (Music)

My journey in Arranging and Composition began in high school. In fact, the very first piece I charted was "Love and War" by Tamar Braxton. It was such a good arrangement that my college director selected it for the ballad of our first field show! Imagine the joy of having your work, as a freshman, chosen for your very first college performance. From that moment I was the lead student arranger for the University Marching Band. Presently, I arrange music for middle, high school, and college music programs across the country. I count it an honor to share all that I have learned with you!
Ear Training

Ear Training

I am a self-taught pianist. From birth I've had a strong ear for music. When I arrived in college and majored in music education I was captivated by my ability to synthesize what I learned and observed on my own with the structure of academia. As a result, I made straight A's in Music Theory and Aural Skills, and even graduated as the valedictorian of my class. When I became a school teacher I developed my own method of teaching music (specifically ear training) in a fun, memorable, and relatable way.
General Music

General Music

I taught Band, Choir, and General Music [Music Specialization] at the high school level for 7 years. In the local church I've also taught general music for over 20 years. Whether music is a hobby, a career, or a lifestyle I can relate to virtually anyone and expand their overall musical knowledge.
Trombone

Trombone

During undergrad, I was a member of the University Marching Band and served as low brass captain and trombone section leader for 4 years. As a member of the University Jazz Ensemble I performed with professional jazz artists like Sean Jones (trumpet), Marcus Anderson (alto saxophone), and Micheal Dease (trombone). Music has opened many doors for me as a trombonist/musician and it is my hope to continue its advancement as a tutor and educator.
Voice (Music)

Voice (Music)

I am a skilled vocalist. I have been singing for as long as I can remember (almost 30 years now). I have a well-rounded background in diverse singing styles: classical/opera, musical theater, gospel, jazz, R&B, and more. I am currently a music director for several spiritual communities in my area. In 2024, I co-directed a national gospel choir that performed for a Live Recording in Atlanta, GA. Music is my deepest passion and the voice is my strongest instrument. I am willing to work with anyone if it lends an opportunity to help them reach their greatest musical potential.
