My goal is to provide the best learning experience for my students. I love math and want others to love it too. I have a calm and laid back personality and enjoy helping students get over their fear of math. In addition to strengthening math skills, I aim to build a student’s confidence.

One of the great things about tutoring is that lessons can be tailored to the needs and learning style of the student. I enjoy planning a lesson and working out the best way for a student to learn a concept. Also, tutoring can be quite fun. I like to help students through games and puzzles.

For over 10 years I have tutored students from a variety of backgrounds and age groups. My youngest student was 7 years old and my oldest was 78. In addition, I taught math for five years at a technical college. Some of the classes I taught include Foundational Mathematics, Elementary Algebra, College Algebra, Geometry, and Trigonometry. In order to make concepts as simple as possible, I enjoyed creating class resources such as video lectures and interactive online tools.

I have a bachelor’s degree in math and a master’s degree in math from East Tennessee State University. I started tutoring as an undergraduate. I worked as a teaching assistant grading papers for a mathematical reasoning class and tutoring students in a mathematical biology class. In graduate school, I worked in an NSF program developing integrated STEM curriculum in a local elementary school. I led fourth and fifth grade classroom discussions and afterschool programs.
