Hi! I’m a patient, encouraging English tutor with a master’s degree, a TESOL certificate, and over 10 years of experience helping students become clearer, more confident writers and speakers.

I especially love helping with college and graduate school admission essays. I write personal essays myself, so I know how to help you find the story only you can tell and make it sound like you at your best. Having been through grad school admissions myself, I also understand the pressure and what readers look for. Whether you’re working on your Common App personal statement, college supplements, or a graduate personal statement or statement of purpose, I’d be glad to help you through the process. I also help high school and college students with academic writing, literature, grammar, and style.

I’m equally passionate about teaching English to speakers of other languages. My TESOL training prepared me to support learners at every level, and I enjoy helping students build fluency, expand their vocabulary, and feel comfortable speaking in real conversations. I’ve also coached medical students and professionals on spoken English for clinical communication. Since I’m learning Spanish myself, I know how it feels to stretch into a new language, and I bring that understanding and patience to every lesson.

I see tutoring as a partnership. We’ll start with where you are and what you want to accomplish, then build skills step by step. For admissions essays, I won’t write your essay for you, but I’ll ask the right questions and give honest, kind feedback so you can write your best one.
