I am an experienced educator with over 10 years in elementary education. I've worked as a general education teacher, a reading teacher, a private tutor and a curriculum specialist. I hold a Master of Education in Teaching and Learning and a B.S. degree in Pharmacy. I passed certification exams for Elementary Education in Reading/Language Arts and Math and specialize in remediation using research-based strategies. I am an experienced educator with over 10 years in elementary education. I've worked as a general education teacher, a reading teacher, a private tutor and a curriculum specialist. I hold a Master of Education in Teaching and Learning and a B.S. degree in Pharmacy. I passed certification exams for Elementary Education in Reading/Language Arts and Math and specialize in remediation using research-based strategies. I've been successfully helping students along the path to academic success for over 10 years.
Teaching and learning are my passions. I love learning and sharing knowledge with others. I've been told that I have a knack for breaking down difficult concepts and making them easy to understand. I believe that every child is capable of learning, given the right combination of motivation, effort, and effective instruction. I strive to make sure that students leave each session encouraged and more confident in their ability to understand the concepts being taught.

Since my son has been going to Ms. April, he has seen growth in his reading. He met his guided reading level goal for this past quarter. His overall accuracy and fluency levels have increased, but more importantly his confidence. He scored a 100 on both the math and reading common district assessments (CDA). I am a happy mom. I would recommend Ms. April to anyone who may have a child that is struggling with literacy, she is able to meet the child where they are and provide a plan to get them where they need to be.

Measured Improvement

April has the skills and experience to figure out the root cause of a child's difficulty, and do drills and practice to attack it. She doesn't just work through homework and tests the child has already seen before. My daughter's grades and confidence have both improved since she started working with April.
