Hello! My name is Danneka, and I am a certified middle school mathematics teacher with both a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Mathematics Education. I have over five years of classroom teaching experience working with students in grades 6-8, including advanced math courses and state-tested mathematics programs. I also have experience with high school mathematics as well!
Throughout my teaching career, I have worked with students of varying ability levels, from those who need additional support and confidence-building to those seeking enrichment and academic acceleration. My experience includes teaching in a Title I school setting, where I have developed strong skills in differentiating instruction to meet each student's unique learning needs.
My tutoring approach focuses on building understanding rather than memorization. I believe students learn best when they understand the "why" behind mathematical concepts. During tutoring sessions, I use a variety of teaching strategies including visual models, real-world applications, guided practice, and step-by-step problem-solving methods. I strive to create a supportive and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes as part of the learning process.
In addition to classroom teaching, I have provided one-on-one and small-group academic support to students who need help with homework, test preparation, skill remediation, and enrichment. I am experienced in helping students prepare for end-of-grade assessments, strengthen foundational math skills, and improve their overall confidence in mathematics.
My goal is not only to help students improve their grades but also to help them develop the problem-solving skills and confidence needed for long-term academic success. I look forward to partnering with students and families to create meaningful learning experiences that lead to measurable growth.
