Hello! My name is Daniel, and I'm a junior mechanical engineering student at Duke University with a passion for making difficult STEM concepts click for students who feel stuck. Over the past two years at Duke, I've worked through the full engineering core — differential equations, calculus, chemistry, physics (mechanics and E&M), thermodynamics, circuits, and dynamics — while also engaging in faculty research on hands-on engineering projects. I hold certifications in Python, Java, SolidWorks (CSWA and CSWP), and the full Microsoft Office suite. Being deep in this material every day means I can teach it the way it's actually tested and applied, not just as it appears in a textbook.
I specialize in high school and early-college STEM: AP Calculus (AB/BC), AP Physics (1 and C), AP Chemistry, precalculus, algebra, SAT/ACT math and science, and introductory college-level engineering coursework. My tutoring approach is built around one belief: every student can understand this material if it's explained in a way that matches how they think. I don't lecture at students or hand them formulas to memorize. Instead, I start by figuring out where the actual gap is, then rebuild the concept from the ground up using clear analogies, worked examples, and problems we tackle together. I want students to leave each session able to solve the next problem on their own, not just the one we just did.
Beyond formal coursework, I've spent years teaching through leadership positions and volunteering to bring robotics and STEM to elementary students — passing on the love for learning that got me here. Outside of tutoring, I enjoy traveling, learning new languages, and exploring different cultures, which has taught me how to meet people where they are and communicate ideas across different backgrounds. Whether you're aiming for a top SAT score, trying to survive AP Physics, or building a foundation for engineering school, I'd love to help you get there. Thanks for reading, and I look forward to working with you!
