I am currently a Master’s student in Biostatistics at Duke University and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in Bioengineering and Mathematics. I have over seven years of experience tutoring students in math and science at the middle school, high school, and college levels. I have worked with students in subjects including algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus, physics, biology, chemistry, and statistics, as well as standardized test preparation such as the SAT and PSAT. Through my academic background and tutoring experience, I have developed a strong understanding of how to explain complex technical material in a clear and approachable way.
My tutoring approach focuses on building a strong foundation in core concepts while also developing problem-solving skills and confidence. I break down difficult topics into simple, intuitive steps and adapt my teaching style based on how each student learns best. In a typical session, I review current class material, identify areas of confusion, and then work through practice problems step-by-step before having the student try similar problems independently. My goal is to make sure students understand why they are doing each step, not just memorize procedures, so they can apply the same strategies to new problems on their own.
Over the years, I have worked with many different types of students, including those who are struggling in a class, students preparing for exams, and students who want to get ahead. My background in bioengineering and biostatistics also allows me to connect math and science concepts to real-world applications, which often helps students better understand the material. I strive to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, and my goal is not only to help students improve their grades and test scores but also to build long-term confidence and independence in their learning.
