For a while, I was certified to teach secondary mathematics, teaching Algebra 2 and Geometry, but I found that tutoring gave me more flexibility as I moved across the country.
I have helped hundreds of students improve their scores on standardized tests, working both as an independent tutor and at several tutoring centers. I know the ins and outs of the ACT and SAT, and I've worked with students at all levels. I've also helped students study for AP exams, college finals, and vocational and military exams. I've helped students find careers and colleges that fit them and helped them write applications that got them in. My default approach combines my subject knowledge with Socratic questioning, challenging students to develop a solid understanding of the material in front of them and make connections with what they already know.
Please ask me about my small group rates! I have extensive experience providing a 1-on-1 experience while working with two or three students at once, even if everyone is working on different subjects. I can work online or in-person. Students are encouraged to bring their own resources, including a computer, calculator, and notebook.
