I completed a B.A. in philosophy from Willamette University in 2013 with a GPA of 3.84. I, then, received my Ph.D. in philosophy in 2020 after completing a dissertation focused on problems in the field of logic. I am a member of the honor society Phi Beta Kappa and I received the Hinman fellowship from the University of Nebraska while I was a graduate student there.

For seven years, I taught courses in philosophy, ethics, and logic at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln. Since graduating, I have been teaching formal logic at a public charter high school. In total, I have around 10 years of experience teaching and around 7 years of experience with one on one tutoring, which I did concurrently with my other teaching responsibilities as a graduate student. I am also a member of the American Association of Philosophy teachers and I've presented at their biannual conference a couple of times.

If you are 14 or older and need help with logic, probability, or writing argumentative essays, I am the tutor for you. I have been teaching logic, both formal and informal, for nearly 10 years now. During that time I have taught students from ages 13 to 60. So, I have experience designing my lessons for students with varying skill levels and background knowledge. When it comes to essay writing, I have published peer-reviewed articles in philosophy and graded thousands of student-written essays. I pride myself on my ability to help students write clear, concise, and persuasive arguments.

My teaching philosophy is very focused on the growth mindset. I offer my students the opportunity to grow by setting up problems or asking questions that are hard enough to push students, but not so hard that they will grow frustrated. Having taught difficult content for so long, I have become a very patient teacher. I know that some topics can be hard to learn, and I want to be there to help people on their unique learning journeys.

Exceptional Teacher

Zack is an exceptional teacher who is kind, knowledgeable, and reliable. He helped my daughter develop her first philosophy essay, offering detailed and insightful feedback that effectively guided her in crafting a compelling paper. We were both impressed by the depth of knowledge he has in the subject. My daughter is truly grateful for his support and looks forward to working with him again in the future.

Knowledgeable and an excellent tutor for doctoral students!

Zack was instrumental in helping me write my final narrative criticism paper on one of C.S. Lewis's books! Zack helped me to refine my ideas during the brainstorming phase, as well as helped me to ensure that my analysis supported my thesis once I had written the content. He also helped me greatly with my final revisions and made sure that I kept my paper within the page count. Excellent tutor, very knowledgeable, and great to work with! Highly recommend! :-)
