I am an educator with a Doctorate of Education in Curriculum, Teaching, Learning, and Leadership, and I have spent my career helping students discover what they can do. I believe language learning should feel joyful, empowering, and grounded in a sense of possibility. My role is to create a safe space where students feel comfortable taking risks, asking questions, and building confidence step by step.

My teaching journey began at the College of Charleston, where I taught conversational Spanish at the college level. From there, I moved abroad to Guadalajara, Mexico, teaching English as a Foreign Language and completing my TEFL certification. I later taught English to business professionals in Charlotte, NC, and in Caracas, Venezuela through the language institute Inlingua, experiences that strengthened my ability to support adult learners and tailor instruction to their goals and professional demands.

I have spent more than a decade teaching Spanish at multiple levels, including at UNC Charlotte and in an independent school where I taught high school and AP Spanish. I have also served as an AP Exam Reader, which means I have seen the grading process from the inside out and understand exactly what strong performance looks like. This experience allows me to guide students with clarity and purpose, helping them not only master the material but also develop the strategies and confidence needed to excel.

My approach is student-centered, strengths-based, and deeply supportive. I meet each learner where they are, build on what is already working, and create pathways that make progress visible and meaningful. Whether you are preparing for AP Spanish, learning Spanish or English for the first time, or returning as an adult learner, I will meet you with warmth, clarity, and a belief in your ability to grow.

ESL/ESOL

I am a TEFL-certified instructor with experience teaching English to learners ages 15 through adult in Mexico, Venezuela, and the United States. My background includes supporting high school students, college learners, and adults, including extensive experience with executives. My approach is warm, encouraging, and confidence-focused, creating a space where learners feel comfortable practicing and growing. Each lesson is tailored to your goals, whether you want to improve conversation, clarity, academic English, or professional communication.
Spanish

Spanish

I have over a decade of experience teaching Spanish at the high school, AP, college, and adult levels, including courses at the College of Charleston, UNC Charlotte, and an independent school. As a former AP Spanish teacher and AP Exam Reader, I’ve seen how the exam is scored from the inside and know how to help students feel prepared and confident. My approach is warm and supportive, helping learners build on what they already know and discover their strengths. Whether you are new to Spanish, preparing for AP, or returning to the language as an adult, I tailor each lesson to meet your goals and make steady progress feel achievable.
Writing

Writing

I bring experience in academic writing from years of teaching at the college level, completing my doctorate, and earning a master’s degree in Spanish with a focus on translation studies. I also have a published dissertation, so I understand what it takes to work through a large writing project from start to finish. As a tutor, I can step in wherever a student is getting stuck—whether that’s forming a research question, choosing sources, outlining, drafting, or using correct citations—or I can guide them through the entire writing process. My goal is to make writing feel approachable instead of intimidating and to create a supportive space where students can organize their ideas, grow their skills, and build confidence each step of the way.
