I obtained dual Bachelor degrees in chemistry and chemical engineering graduating summa cum laude, and obtained a PhD in chemical engineering focusing on organic materials and polymers. I've always found a strong passion in teaching, and specifically in dismantling the fear barriers many students have about chemistry and math specifically.

I have had many teaching and tutoring opportunities throughout the years. I started as an athlete tutor during my last two years of my undergraduate career, and have TAed and cotaught university level classes in statistics and chemical engineering. During my postdoctoral years in Chicago from 2018 to 2021, I worked at a tutoring center and taught high-school and college students in various subjects including algebra, general chemistry, organic chemistry, algebra, statistics, and calculus. I have also helped students with their AP chemistry and SAT II chemistry and math prep. Currently, I am teaching chemistry courses at the college-level as a full time professor.

I strive to benefit the students I work with to the fullest degree possible. I will work on the students specific needs and listen to parental suggestions regarding teaching. I am easy to reach and will respond quickly to any inquiries. Please do not hesitate to contact me with further questions or concerns as well!

Chemical Engineering

I have two degrees in chemical engineering, a bachelor's of science from NC State University and a PhD from the University of Delaware which is a top 10 chemical engineering institution. I have taken advanced courses in chemical engineering core subjects (thermodynamics, kinetics/reactors, transport phenomena) and have TAed and co-taught courses in the chemical engineering curriculum. I am confident I can help students studying chemical engineering.

Thank you, Bassil

We are so grateful for Bassil. He helps bring clarity to my child in AP Chemistry. He is not doing our student's homework, instead he asks the right questions and activates learning in our student.

A lifesaver!

Bassil has been my biopolymers tutor this semester and without his help and encouragement, I would have dropped this course a long time ago. He was very patient with me when explaining math concepts like derivations and he gave simplified explanations of thermodynamics processes to help fill in the gaps in my knowledge. He is incredibly well-versed in material science and polymers, and has a talent for teaching. I owe all my success in this course to him and I would highly recommend him.

Bassil is awesome

Highly recommend! Reviewed some basic Chemistry and Redox Reactions. He was patient, thorough and encouraging. When I need more assistance, I will certainly seek him out again.
