This correspondence is written to express my interest in becoming your personal tutor. Over the past 15 years, I have been afforded the opportunity to work in education for various facets to include the following: the Exceptional Children’s Program for kindergarten through 12 grades; mental health, alternative education, as well as administration for education within the penal system. I believe that through these experiences, I have learned the importance of education and preventative measures necessary to close educational gaps, the ability to identify and respond to various cultures, and the training to utilize data to promote growth and positive change.
Within the past 15 years, I have implemented remediation through various facets for general education students as well students with disabilities. During the 2014-2015 school year, I developed a structural framework necessary for after-school tutorials for students 3rd through 5th grades. The school grew 10% from the previous year. Within the penal system (2012-2014 school years), 90% of students that I instructed were assessed, given a plan of study, and given best practices to prepare for and obtain their GED. High yield instructional practices were designed, reviewed implemented and tweaked as needed to promote positive change. Direct instruction was used as well as daily fives practices to promote cooperative learning groups that provided direct instruction for students during literacy and math sessions on various lessons at their levels.
