Hi, I’m Beth! I’m a former high school English teacher with over 20 years of experience helping students grow in reading, writing, and self-expression.
I earned my degree in English from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where I graduated with a 4.0 in my major, and later completed my Master of Arts in Teaching there as well.
I spent 22 years teaching high school English (grades 9–12), including 11 years at an innovative early college ranked among the top schools in the state. I am experienced and comfortable teaching 1:1 and online. In my final years, I co-taught SAT prep, focusing on helping students strengthen their reading comprehension, grammar, and writing skills.
I’m passionate about helping students grow not just academically, but in confidence. I want to help them learn how to express themselves clearly and discover their strengths.
I also bring a background in nervous system–aware teaching, which helps students feel more relaxed, focused, and supported.
My approach is patient and encouraging, while still holding students to high standards.
I would love to meet you and your student, and I currently have a few open spots available!
