Hello Students and Parents,

Math has long been the source of dread and misery for countless students. Many have often given up by mistakenly buying into the false notion that they "just don't have it" or that math is "too hard" for them. But my firm belief is that anyone can learn anything given enough time, patience and inspiration. Even the most challenging subjects can be mastered by a willing learner and an able teacher.

My primary focus as a tutor is to first help struggling learners overcome the fear of math. Then, I provide the missing tools necessary to help them reach their top potential and achieve their highest academic goals.

I employ both traditional and non-traditional teaching methods that reinforce fundamental skills, explore alternate methods of problem solving and most of all, demystify difficult and abstract concepts. Many times, simply removing the anxiety from math itself has worked wonders: former failing students become top performers who are no longer terrified by tests and quizzes.

This is all accomplished in a relaxed, safe, and trusting environment where the student is not afraid to make mistakes. I encourage them to believe in their ability to conquer any problem with hard work and persistence.

Currently, I enjoy work as a certified teacher in the Vista Unified School District. I also volunteer as a tutor for disadvantaged youth in a local community intervention program in Oceanside, California. I have nearly fifteen years experience in teaching, coaching, and personal development.

I am very motivated and thoroughly committed to seeing young people succeed. I look forward to being of service or answering any questions you may have.

Thank You!

Great Tutor!

Gerard is a great tutor! He takes you step by step on problems that you are having trouble completing, while going back and bridging gaps from prior math lessons. He allows you to try and solve the problems before he goes in correcting mistakes, and when there are errors in your answer he walks through them with you to see were something went wrong.

thoughtful, encouraging, educational for us all

My boys really enjoy working with him and look forward to him coming because he is able to reach them through a great knowledge of the material, able to use modern resources like the computer and apps to not only teach them while he is here, but give them tools to work with on their own.
