When I tutor, I focus on helping students understand the “why” behind the math instead of memorizing steps. I use visuals, real-world analogies, and a bit of humor to make concepts feel less intimidating and more approachable. This works especially well for students who feel stuck, frustrated, or convinced they’re “just not good at math.” We slow things down, figure out where the confusion starts, and build understanding from there.
As both a teacher and a parent of teenagers, I understand the stress math can bring at this age. My goal is for students to leave sessions feeling calmer, clearer, and more capable — not rushed or overwhelmed — and confident tackling their math work on their own.
