I am currently a history teacher teaching psychology and sociology. I enjoy working with students and teaching them new strategies to improve their learning. Most of my education is with historical topics, however I am up-to-date with reading comprehension skills that CMS supports and ways to teach these skills to students. I have been a teacher in public schools for one year, but in the past I worked as a summer camp teacher and director for several years. I love working with students in a one-on-one setting because I feel that it gives students the best opportunity to learn and apply skills within all subjects. It provides a type of relationship that isn't always available in a large classroom setting, and this relationship leads to better understanding and learning. It also allows for a comfortable environment to ask questions and seek a deeper personalized understanding.
I have a toolkit of strategies and skills that can help students master English concepts, especially reading comprehension. This will lead to success in not only English, but it all subjects.
I am extremely interested in historical topics and often research to deepen my understanding of these topics. I love to see connections between historical ideas, and to learn new things about the history of the US and world.
