I stumbled on Wyzant searching for a tutor that had a proven record of results since my son didn’t have much time guessing on picking a tutor. After taking the ACT twice, my son did not improve with his English ACT score of 29 both times and was 4 weeks away from taking the ACT again. Anna C. was confident from the start she could help him achieve his goals. He liked that she gave him a structured plan. Outside the weekly hour session with Anna C, he put in the work (2-3 hours a day for 3 weeks) on the areas she instructed him to focus. The end result was a 6+ POINT increase to a 35 in English and an overall composite of 34 which as someone else posted ‘it was worth every penny’ even though to me it was a lot of $ seeing the hourly rate the results speak for themselves. Our daughter will be applying to top-level universities in the fall, but her initial SAT score of 1410 was not competitive. Honestly, we were skeptical that a 140-point jump was even possible in the 2.5 months she had to retake the SAT. Anna, however, calmly expressed confidence that it is was indeed possible, by taking certain very specific steps that seemed doable even with an extremely busy academic and extracurricular schedule; not easy, but doable. Also, I had suggested that we wait to retake the test in the fall, to allow more time (6 months). Anna explained why this might not be a good idea. It was clear that Anna had been there done that. She also clearly understands the teenage brain. Weekly meetings followed, on the same day and time. Homework assignments and drills using explicit test-taking strategies, together with a mock test each weekend, went like clockwork. I listened in on one of the lessons and was impressed with Anna's enthusiasm and energy, on top of her methodical and easily grasped steps. It was obvious that she had her own method, developed through hard experience. She did not relent or flag, but I think what really set Anna apart was the hopeful tone that she imparted on our daughter throughout - this is no small feat. Anna is a true professional, and most importantly, she delivered; the result speaks for itself. We recommend her 100%.
