Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Adobe Flash

I have taught Flash at CUNY (City University of New York) for 5 years. I was the 1st runner up in a Adobe Flash sponsored contest. Apart from teaching Flash. I work with the software in the creation of my own animation and multimedia projects for art installations.

I'm currently work with Flash to explore how to incorporate it into HTML5.

Adobe Illustrator

I have taught Adobe Illustrator in a college setting for numerous years.

I use Illustrator to build packaging mechanicals and logos for corporate identity projects.

Additional I use the program to develop content for websites and mobile apps.

Adobe InDesign

Adobe InDesign has been used in my classroom in a multitude of ways. It's been the centerpiece in any multipaged project my students create, whether it's a brochure, a menu, a catalog or a magazine layout. In the 12 plus years that I've used this desktop publishing tool I've seen it evolve from a static tool to a robust rich media creator. I am now teaching individuals how to use InDesign to develop apps for tablets and smart phones.

Adobe Photoshop

I have taught Photoshop on the college level for more than 10 years. I'm proficient in all levels from from version 2.0 to the current CC2014.

I employ Photoshop as a photo editor tool, for picture retouching, blending and color/contrast correction of my art projects

Additionally I use the software for web development layouts and apps interfacing as well as general graphic design works.

Desktop Publishing

I have a total of 10 year's teaching which includes NYC CUNY system and Anthem Institute. The current desktop publishing program I teach includes InDesign, HTML/CSS, Photoshop, and Illustrator, ranging in levels from beginner to advanced skills that are specifically geared towards the modern digital publishing landscape.

The projects include newspaper and magazine layouts, book covers, brochures to posters on the print end and banners, games and interactive pages for tablets and smart phones.

Dreamweaver

I started with Macromedia Dreamweaver in 1997 after it became available and have viewed it as a aide to coding and not a replacement for.

Dreamweaver is a very convenient way to create websites on the fly. The WYSISYG aspect is what makes it so endearing to visual creators.

In most cases I require my students to have a working knowledge of HTML before venturing into Dreamweaver.

I've been a practicing graphic designer for more than 20 years.

Graphic Design

I've been a practicing graphic designer for more than 20 years. I have taught college level graphic design for 7 years. The class covers the basics typography, design principles, color theory, and graphic design fundamentals.

The assignments tend to focus on experimenting with very limited boundaries as well looking at the history of graphic design.

I generally ask students to research a design period and adopt it for the class. The adopted period is then incorporated into their exercises and projects.

HTML

I've taught HTML and CSS for 10 years in the business school and college environment.

I've used HTML and CSS to create websites and am currently using the latest versions (HTML5 and CSS3) to build modern responsive websites for multiple platforms.

I also use HTML/HTML5 in InDesign to develop interactive for mobile devices.

Web Design

The web design instruction start with HTML and CSS, slicing graphics in Fireworks, and continuing through the latest in HTML5/CSS3,

The classes include basics of JavaScript and jQuery, and even mobile web design. The student should complete the course comprehensive understanding of front-end web design and development.

I've been a practicing graphic designer for more than 20 years and have worked for Harpers Bazaar, GQ, Esquire magazine for print assignment.
