While I work with Computers for a living, Physics has been a lifelong passion, my Mathematics coursework has included College Level Calc I, Calc II, Calc III(Vector Analysis), Linear Algebra, Differential Equations, Discrete Mathematics, Applied Combinatorics, Mathematical Methods for Physics.

I focus on helping students to master underlying concepts first, and use a lot of analogies to accomplish this. I show students how to extract relevant information from stated problems, and I like using visual illustrations as an aid where possible.

I am looking to tutor Physics and Mathematics at the College Level and also at the High School Level

Approved Subjects

Calculus

Calculus

I hold a Bachelor's Degree majoring in both Physics and Computer Science from Hunter College of the City University of New York, (Graduated Cum Laude, 1990). This entailed finishing Calculus I, II, III, Differential Equations, Mathematical Methods for Physicists, and Linear Algebra. I have tutored students in Calculus over the years at both the High School and College levels in New York and in Charlotte, NC, focusing both on mastering concepts and teaching how to solve problems effectively. Wherever possible and relevant, I use diagrams to illustrate ideas, and I use analogies to help understand concepts. My goal is to see students be able to translate concepts they understand into practical steps to solve problems.
Computer Science

Computer Science

I hold a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Hunter College, City University of New York. I have worked in the IT field as a software developer focusing on databases as well as mathematical programming (Time Series Analysis, Statistics, Linear Algebra, Data Mining) at Fuzzy Logix LLC, Bank of America, Barclays Capital, and other locations. I am a good communicator with a love for the subject, and use a variety of analogies to explain concepts, relying on visual illustrations wherever relevant.
Discrete Math

Discrete Math

I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, and have studied Discrete Mathematics needed for this. This includes Number Systems, Boolean Algebra, Propositional/Predicate Logic, Set Theory and Relations, Combinatorics, Trees and Graphs.
Microsoft Access

Microsoft Access

I have been a relational database developer for over 24 years. I graduated from Hunter College, CUNY New York in 1990 with a Bachelor's in Computer Science, and have worked in Corporations using Microsoft Access (Fund for the City of New York, Barclays Capital, Bank of America). I have also used SQL Server, Sybase, Oracle, Netezza, Teradata professionally so my skill level in databases is quite high.
Physics

Physics

I hold a Bachelor's degree in Physics from Hunter College, City University of New York (Graduated Cum Laude 1990). My second Bachelor's Degree is in Computer Science, also from Hunter College. I also completed 9 credits of Master's Level Physics at City College, City University of New York. I have tutored students in Physics over the years at both the High School and College levels in New York and in Charlotte, NC, focusing both on mastering concepts and teaching how to solve problems effectively. Wherever possible and relevant, I use diagrams to illustrate ideas, and I use analogies to help understand concepts. SQL

SQL

I have worked from 1992 as a professional software developer, using Structured Query Language (i.e. SQL) since 1995 until present day (27 years approx) for a variety of Insurance, Banking, and Investment firms (Prudential IIG, Chase Bank, Barclays Capital, and Bank of America). I am experienced in using SQL on a variety of Relational Database Management systems, chief among which are Microsoft SQL Server, Netezza, Teradata, Oracle, and Sybase. Along the way I have designed and taught SQL classes in corporate settings and personal settings numerous times, and am very comfortable with the language since I use it every day.
