Spanish Language & Culture Teacher, ESL, and MS Word Word Tutor

Yarel M.

I am a certified K–12 Spanish teacher with classroom experience teaching students from 8th grade through high school, including all levels of Spanish and AP Spanish. I am the firstborn of Dominican parents in the United States, and Spanish is my first language. My bilingual and bicultural background allows me to bring authentic language use, cultural context, and real-world examples into every lesson to make Spanish relevant and engaging for my students.

Over the years, I have taught in traditional classrooms, small groups, and one-on-one settings, supporting learners with homework, test preparation, conversational practice, and advanced language skills. I focus on clear explanations, plenty of practice, and building confidence through positive feedback. I strive to create an inclusive, encouraging learning environment where every student feels seen, supported, and capable of success. I can help with colloquial terms and regional expressions, as well as grammar, writing, reading, and listening, so students develop a comprehensive command of the language.

In addition to Spanish, I tutor MS Word and PowerPoint, which I have used professionally and academically since 1992. I also have experience teaching English as a Second Language, including teaching while studying abroad in the Dominican Republic. I am passionate about both learning and teaching, and my philosophy is to grow through curiosity and an openness to learn. Whether you are just beginning Spanish or seeking more advanced support, I will meet you where you are and help you progress toward your goals.
