Dear Potential Students and Parents,
I'm Gaeun (pronounced got-in). As a passionate educator, my personal philosophy on learning is simple: re-teaching is when information truly sticks. Throughout my academic career, my primary study method has been re-teaching complex concepts to myself and my peers to break down intimidating concepts into clear steps. I recently graduated from Wake Forest University with a B.S. in Applied Mathematics (with minors in Engineering and Music), and I am currently expanding my technical skills by pursuing my Master's in Biostatistics at Duke University. Through rigorous coursework, I frequently collaborate with peers to re-learn high-level mathematical concepts and break them down into easily digestible applications.
I bring a diverse range of tutoring experience across various age groups and cultural backgrounds. Locally, I spent a year volunteering at a local after-school camp, where I provided general academic assistance to elementary and middle school students. Internationally, I spent a summer volunteering in Malaysia at a refugee elementary school, where I adapted my teaching strategies to a wide range of ages and language skills to teach English, Math, and Korean. Whether working one-on-one or in a group setting, I focus on building a student's confidence alongside their skills. I do not just teach technical applications; I help students build effective study habits for future academic challenges. I look forward to helping you or your child succeed, so please feel free to reach out with any questions or to schedule a session.
