Hi! I am a graduate of Clemson University, where I earned my degree in Spanish & International Business with a minor in Psychology. I started my tutoring career at Clemson and loved it so much that I decided to continue tutoring professionally. I have now been tutoring for over 5 years and tutor both online and in person. I tutor Spanish, English, Psychology, as well as elementary-level subjects.
I also had the opportunity to study abroad in Argentina for a year. Being completely immersed in the language and culture really helped improve my Spanish abilities and gave me a better understanding of how Spanish is used in everyday life. Learning another language myself has also helped me become a better English tutor because I understand what it is like to learn a language from the other side. I know how challenging it can be to understand new vocabulary, grammar, and concepts, especially when something does not make sense right away.
When it comes to my teaching style, I am very patient and understand that everyone learns differently. I think one of the most important parts of teaching is being able to break information down into its simplest form so that anyone can understand it. Growing up, I had to learn this about myself and how I learn best. Over time, I have realized that this is truly the key to understanding information, even when the topic is difficult.
I take the time to figure out where a student is getting stuck and then find a way to explain the material that makes sense to them. Sometimes that means breaking a topic into smaller steps, using a different example, or approaching it from a completely different angle. My goal is to make difficult subjects feel more manageable and help students understand the material rather than simply memorize it.
