Hi I'm Kayla! I attended University of North Carolina School of the Arts, and earned a degree in Drama. After earning my Actor's Equity membership, I moved to Chicago, where I worked professionally for six years. I am a member of Actors Equity and SAG-AFTRA, the professional actors unions. I have been a guest star or recurring character on several television shows, including Chicago Med. In addition to bountiful theatre and TV work, I have worked in film as well. Films I have acted in have gone to festivals such as Tribeca and Berlin Film Festival.
Auditioning can be very scary and confusing, as well as thrilling and freeing. I have a lot of experience with auditions, both in front of the table and behind it, and I know what makes an audition shine. I want to help actors of all ages learn how to relax in high pressure situations, so that they can fully and freely share their work with their audience. I know that research and preparation is what helps actors truly relax, and I love to help actors get to the truth of their characters and the stories that they are telling. I am equipped to coach in both theatre settings and on camera settings, and I understand how different these styles of acting can be. I work with high school students looking to prepare for college auditions, although I am open to coaching anyone who is hoping to grow as an actor.
I also coach voice in addition to acting. Being comfortable in and knowing our own voices, is the most powerful gift we can give ourselves as humans. It is a skill that translates not just to acting, but to singing, public speaking, and self-confidence in general. I have training in Alexander Technique as well as extensive vocal training, and it is my honor to help others learn how to breathe and speak in a way that supports the most powerful version of themselves.
So whether you need coaching for a monologue, school or on camera audition, or just want to understand your voice better, I am here to help. Reach out and let's talk!
