I am an MFA writing coach and author with over a decade of experience helping students and adult writers communicate with clarity, structure, and purpose. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in French from Coker University and a Master of Fine Arts from UCLA, where my graduate work emphasized research, writing, critical analysis, and creative development. I have taught at both the high school and college levels and have worked with people of all ages to develop stronger writing, communication skills, and creative thinking.
My teaching approach is direct, structured, and personal. I do not believe in lifeless templates or generic writing formulas. Instead, I help writers develop strong ideas first and then shape those ideas into confident and effective language. Whether a student struggles with clarity, organization, grammar, or writing anxiety, I focus on building the underlying thinking skills that make good writing possible. My sessions are active and collaborative, and I give students practical tools they can use long after tutoring ends.
I specialize in academic essays (thesis, structure, clarity), creative writing, college admissions essays, and personal statements. Many of my students begin with uncertainty or writer’s block and finish with a stronger sense of their own voice and intellectual confidence. If a student is willing to think critically and engage with honest feedback, I can help them grow quickly as a writer.
