I went to school at Johnson & Wales University. I earned my Associate's Degree in Baking and Pastry Arts as well as my Bachelor's Degree in Food Service Management with a minor in Economics. While working toward those degrees, I had to use a lot of math skills for recipe and measurement conversions. A large part of Food Service Management is learning how to properly cost out a menu and recipes. Therefore, I spent a lot of time creating menus and using the recipes to find the recipe costs, calculate in the overhead costs, and find out how much profit the menu would earn.

While attending Johnson & Wales, I worked at the tutoring center for two and a half years. I started off tutoring statistics and accounting and gradually worked my way into tutoring most subjects that the school offered (considering it was a fairly small school in uptown Charlotte). I was also a teaching assistant in both statistics and accounting classes at the school and tutored privately in my free time as well.

I am currently a high school math teacher. I teach Math 2, which is mostly Geometry with some Algebra, Trigonometry, and Probability mixed in. It is my third year working at my current school, and I previously worked at another high school in Charlotte for three and a half school years. At that school, I ran the credit recovery program. This means that I helped students that had previously failed classes make up the credit for those classes and reach their graduation goals. Most of these students struggled with math, so I helped tutor them. I would tutor them and help them with the classes that they failed in addition to helping them pass the classes that they were currently taking as well. I was able to help them with time management and assignment priority listing in addition to the content help that I was providing.
