At the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, I am earning a Bachelor's in Management Information Systems while also pursuing a minor in Mathematics and Biotechnology. In the future I hope to attend medical school and become a surgeon after residency. During my time at UNCC I have also earned multiple certifications in Python and Pandas for data analysis. As of now, I enjoy tutoring students on business topics with the business honors society Beta Alpha Psi. In addition, I have studied up to Calculus 3 and tutored students on Pre-Calculus topics to prepare them for their Calculus courses.
Most of my direct in-person tutoring experience comes from my experience as an Eagle Scout. During said time I learned to use the EDGE method, which stands for Explain, Demonstrate, Guide, and Enable. Using the EDGE method, I have reviewed countless outdoor skills and even have gotten tutored students to better grasp difficult topics. Of course, when the method falters, or the student still has difficulty, one must take a nuanced approach to help the student even if they need a different type of study. My current teaching style has also been molded by my current tutoring with adults and classmates.
During my long tutoring career, I have taught almost all ages from about 13 to adults at UNCC, and in almost every possible setting. For instance, I have tutored a high-school classmate over a video call for her mathematics and in another case have tutored an adult group face-to-face in a classroom. As for age, I do not have a preference other than preferably other the age of elementary school since I am not a fan of the topics at that level. Since middle school I have been tutoring friends, family, and even classmates that just needed the extra practice. I definitely prefer online tutoring but when a student needs that face-to-face understanding, then I am glad to deliver.
