Hi there, I’m AaYahna! I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and a minor in Biology. In college, I quickly realized that my learning style is hands-on, and I connected most with professors who made classes enjoyable and interactive. These instructors often used visual aids like PowerPoints, class discussions, and group activities to explain concepts and were always willing to go the extra mile to help. I now adopt a similar teaching style in my tutoring, focusing on engagement, creativity, and support to create a rewarding learning experience.

My tutoring sessions begin with an engaging introduction to the topic, followed by a thorough explanation. I always include time for students to practice on their own and ask any lingering questions. While this method has been effective for many of my students, I’m always open to adjusting based on the subject or individual learning needs.

During undergrad, I held two teaching assistant positions—one in General Biology and one in Genetics. Each week, I led hour-long tutoring sessions for small groups of 5–8 students who needed deeper explanations of classroom material. These sessions were focused on breaking down concepts into smaller, more understandable pieces, working through example problems, and answering follow-up questions. I also provided help with homework and reinforced key lessons from class.

My goal is to help students not only improve their grades but also build confidence and problem-solving skills to tackle challenging topics on their academic journey. I’m always open to feedback and suggestions from students and parents to make the learning experience even more effective.
