About Aaryan

Bio

Hi, I’m Aaryan M. I studied FinTech & Big Data Analytics with a Math minor at Virginia Tech, which basically means I spent a lot of time turning messy numbers and abstract formulas into clear, useful ideas. I’ve picked up the AWS Cloud Practitioner and Tableau Desktop Specialist certifications too—helpful when I want to show students how math and data show up in real life.

I started tutoring in college and never stopped. Over the past few years I’ve worked with learners from middle school through early college in math, U.S. history, English, and intro finance. Most of my sessions are online, either one-on-one or in small groups, and I still set aside time for volunteer homework help when I can. I like teaching online because it lets me reach students wherever they are and use tools that make lessons feel alive—shared whiteboards, quick polls, Google Docs we can write in together, even a spreadsheet that updates as we talk.

My approach is simple: I don’t start by lecturing; I start by listening. A five-minute chat and a couple of starter problems tell me how a student thinks—do they picture ideas, prefer stories, like to tinker, or look for patterns? Once I see that, I build the lesson around them. For a visual learner, I’ll sketch color-coded steps on a digital whiteboard. For someone who learns by doing, we’ll model a problem in a spreadsheet and watch the numbers move. If a student clicks with stories, we’ll frame a history unit as a timeline with characters and stakes. I ask students to “teach back” tiny pieces as we go; it keeps the pace honest and shows me exactly where things click or wobble.
