Hello, my name is Rachel P. and I am currently a high school teacher with Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools. I have been a high school teacher for 7 years and absolutely love my job. I also taught one summer for kindergarten students and one summer for 4th grade students. I am truly passionate about educating students and guiding them to become successful in all educational and professional endeavors.

I started tutoring elementary students in Reading back in 2012. While I have not tutored consistently in this subject in recent years, I do tutor from time-to-time when a student needs my help. I currently offer tutoring services to my high school students in the subjects I've taught over the years which include: Microsoft, Financial Planning, Business Ed., and Project Management. Recently, I have noticed more and more students from all age groups struggle with Reading and various other subjects. Therefore, I desire to make myself available to help these students overcome their learning challenges and thrive academically.

I have a Bachelor's degree in Business Management, a Master's degree in Adult Education and Training and am a certified Business Education Teacher. My approach to tutoring is to conduct an assessment aligned with the subject matter to determine what kind and how much help is needed for the student. I use an I read - you read - we read approach with my students as well as have them write down words they do not know from the text. Students are asked to look up the meaning of the word and use it in a sentence to determine comprehension.
