Hi there! My name is Sherril and I’m passionate about helping students thrive in reading, writing, and language arts. While my background includes a degree in Business Administration, my true passion has always been working with children to develop their academic skills and confidence.
During college, I volunteered with the BCD Institute, where I helped elementary students with reading, writing, and homework. I also worked with Spanish-speaking students to improve their English reading skills. Currently, I tutor third graders one-on-one, focusing on reading comprehension, phonics, spelling, and homework completion.
Throughout my career, I’ve stayed dedicated to fostering academic success in young learners. I’ve volunteered to read to second-grade classes, bringing stories to life and inspiring excitement about reading. I also partnered with the National Endowment for Financial Education to teach financial literacy to 10th graders, blending academic learning with practical skills.
My tutoring approach is rooted in patience, compassion, and adaptability. Every child learns differently, so I assess their skill level and learning style in our first session to create personalized, engaging lessons. Whether a student is a visual learner or thrives with hands-on activities, I tailor my methods to their needs while ensuring learning remains fun and rewarding.
I firmly believe that building a strong foundation at an early age is crucial for lifelong success. Helping students gain confidence in their abilities is incredibly fulfilling, and I look forward to partnering with you and your child to help them achieve their academic goals!
