I am a summa cum laude graduate of the UGA honors program where I earned a degree in English and obtained numerous scholarships. After spending a year living in Atlanta and working as a tennis pro and English tutor, I earned admission to graduate school and where I was awarded a MA in English from UGA and a PhD in English from USC. Most of my scholarship relates to literature and economics of the American South, Ireland, Russia, or intersections and patterns existent in all these regions.
I've lived and taught in Charlotte for the past five years at Providence Day School where I have provided instruction for AP Language and Composition, Writing Seminar, Graphic Novels, English I, Social Entrepreneurship, Incubation and Acceleration, and IDEAS Lab. My teaching background includes work at three universities and multiple independent schools, where I have been fortunate to teach elementary, middle school, and high school classes.
The last 15 years of my life have been filled with consistent tutoring. Most of my students earn exemplary scores, 5 and 4, on the AP Language and Composition and AP Literature exams, and students I support for SAT/ACT prep typically raise their scores in verbal/reading sections by 80-150/4-6 points with some increasing their scores 200+/7+ points.
