Hello! My name is Mark. I am a sophomore at UNC Chapel Hill majoring in Japanese and minoring in Korean. I have always loved language classes, since communication is an important part of life. My tutoring experience starts in high school, when I was in charge of the Japanese Language Tutoring Club. I have spent lots of time working one-on-one and in small groups tutoring since then. I am currently taking this semester off, so I have a very flexible schedule from now until the end of the summer.
Tutoring has been an essential part of my education growing up. My experiences on both ends have shown me that not all students learn in the same ways, and that one-on-one help can make a big difference.
Since I was born and raised here in North Carolina, I am fluent in English as my first language. I have studied a variety of languages from Latin to Japanese, which have given me a wider view of how languages can be taught. I can help any ESL student with grammar, writing/sentence structure, pronunciation, conversational english, and more.
I am currently majoring in Japanese at UNC Chapel Hill. I have experience teaching and tutoring introductory Japanese based on a curriculum that uses the Genki Textbooks. I can help any beginning Japanese student with grammar, reading, and writing. Additionally, I can help students develop skills in memorizing vocabulary and kanji.
