Currently, I am juggling many things at once. I am a mother with two children ages 8 and 10. My ten year old is attending a private school for differently abled and non typically developing children. My 8 year old daughter is attending the North Carolina Virtual Academy, so she is studying at home. I work from home as a counselor for an au pair agency, which is a part time job that feels like a full time job (but I still love it!). I am also continuing my life long studies of photography...
I am also continuing my life long studies of photography and pursuing a certification as a professional photographer, and I am very excited to be starting a fellowship this fall at UNC in the Leadership and Education in Neuro Developmental Disabilities (LEND) Program. My previous lives have included being a middle school math and language arts teacher as well as being an elementary school counselor. I had many experiences while teaching and working in the public school system, and I worked with a lot of different types students. Although I have departed from public schools, I still teach in a variety of ways, and tutoring is one of them. One of my (several) degrees (because I can never stop learning) is in behavioral analysis, and I have used that to work with and tutor children with autism. My son has autism as well, and he is the one who inspired me to go back to school to study that.
