Hi! I’m Luke, an undergraduate student in the Honors Carolina program at UNC Chapel Hill, where I study Peace, War, and Defense and minor in Mathematics. I scored a 1560 on the SAT, and I genuinely enjoy helping students feel more comfortable with math and standardized testing. I’ve also taught public speaking and logic to middle school students through academic programs, which taught me how to take concepts that seem complicated at first and explain them in a way that actually makes sense.
When I tutor, I try to make the process feel less like memorizing a bunch of formulas and more like learning how to think through a problem. For SAT Math especially, knowing the material is only part of the battle. Pacing, recognizing common traps, knowing when to use Desmos, and understanding what a question is really asking can make a huge difference. We’ll work through real SAT questions and algebra problems together, figure out where you’re getting stuck, and then practice those skills until you can handle them on your own.
I work with students at different levels, whether you’re preparing for the SAT and trying to reach a top score or simply want to feel more confident in Algebra I, Algebra II, or Pre-Calculus. I’ll adjust each session to your pace and learning style rather than forcing you into a one-size-fits-all approach. I also want you to feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and taking your time when you need to.
Before we start, I’m happy to have a free introductory chat to talk about your goals, classes, or recent practice-test scores and figure out where I can help most. If you’re looking for a tutor who will actually work through problems with you instead of just giving you more things to memorize, feel free to reach out. I’d be happy to help!
