As the great Chef Gusteau famously said, “Anyone can get into dental school.”
I graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill and NC State in 2023 with a joint-degree in Biomedical Engineering. I am currently a fourth-year dental student at the UNC Adams School of Dentistry. After improving my DAT score from a 16 AA (350) diagnostic to a 23 AA (470) in three months, I began helping other students raise their scores through individualized, strategy-driven tutoring.
I took the DAT on August 16, 2021, and earned a 470 AA, with scores of 550 PAT, 520 QR, 430 RC, 460 Biology, 490 General Chemistry, 530 Organic Chemistry, and 500 Total Science/SNS.
My DAT tutoring focuses on content review, passage strategy, error analysis, pacing, and study planning. I tailor each session to the student’s specific needs, whether that means closing science gaps, improving timing, interpreting difficult passages, or learning how to approach unfamiliar ADA-style questions.
Over the past five years, I have privately tutored approximately 50 students in mathematics, biology, chemistry, and physics. I have also mentored more than 10 pre-dental students through the application process, including school selection, personal statements, and interview preparation. Students I have mentored have attended UNC, Michigan, Penn, Columbia, ECU, UT Health San Antonio, and VCU.
I did not always learn science and math quickly, so I had to become intentional about studying and develop methods that worked with my ADHD. That experience shaped my tutoring style: I do not believe one method works for everyone, and I help each student find the approach that best fits how they learn.
