I am currently an undergraduate at UNC-Chapel Hill graduating a year early in May, majoring in Neuroscience and Pharmaceutical Sciences on a B.S. track. Recently, while studying for the MCAT in January, I felt that a lot of people were underestimating how important test-taking strategies and understanding the language of the exam are to scoring high. Using my strategies, I scored a 522 (131/129/132/130) and want to share what worked for me with other prospective medical students. My lesson plans will most likely involve first identifying areas of weakness across any subject (aside from CARS), then I will develop personalized problems to administer and evaluate the student with. Further lessons will build off these and practice exam scores.
In terms of teaching experience, I have worked as an undergraduate TA for the last few semesters focused in Organic Chemistry. This involved running group review sessions of up to 50 students, where I developed unique problem sets and lesson plans to walk through the group with. I also served as a peer tutor for a few Biology Courses at my school, teaching other undergraduate students aged 18-22 who would register through our Biology tutoring center. Through these experiences, I have learned effective ways to guide students through problem-based review sessions, and also how to personalize lesson plans in unique ways for different students.
This summer, I am applying to Medical School and would love to work with students together through this process as well. I am easy to reach and am always checking my notifications. Please reach out with any other inquiries or to set up a meeting!
