I am a current undergraduate student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Public Health in Environmental Health Sciences and Engineering, as well as a Bachelor's in Data Science. My academic background includes strong coursework in biology, chemistry, environmental science, statistics, and math. Through my studies, I have developed a solid foundation in scientific reasoning, problem-solving, and communication of complex concepts.
I have experience tutoring middle school and high school students in academic settings, specifically in math, biology, and chemistry. This includes both "one-on-one" tutoring and smaller groups. I have also supported peers in college-level courses in a more informal setting. My experience includes short-term homework help, ongoing support in a subject, and exam prep. Along with academic subjects, I have tutored students for standardized exams as well, such as the SAT and ACT.
My tutoring approach is structured, patient, and student-centered. I begin by identifying a student's current understanding and breaking down concepts step by step. I find that one of the most crucial steps to academic success is to help students increase their confidence in a specific field. I would do this through building a strong foundational understanding, actively working through practice problems together, encouraging active recall by allowing students to explain concepts in their own words, and adapting and adjusting the approach based on a student's learning style.
I am committed to creating a supportive and encouraging learning environment! I communicate clearly, respond promptly, and welcome feedback from students and parents to ensure that tutoring sessions are effective.
