My name is Naveed and I hold a BSc. in Physics with Astrophysics and Studies in German from the University of Kent in the UK. I graduated with a 3.2 GPA, followed by a PhD in Physics with a thesis focused on the Earth-Moon Lagrangian points (from the same University). For the past twenty years, I have been tutoring students ranging from middle school through college level in Physics (mechanics, kinematics, thermodynamics), Math, Astronomy, and Computer Skills across both Windows and MacOS platforms. My four Math students last semester – two in high school and two college-level – looked for focus on Algebra 1/2, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus.
My teaching philosophy centers on an example-led approach where we work through problems together, progressing from basic concepts to increasingly complex challenges. Rather than passive lectures, I emphasize guided discovery and collaborative problem-solving. For instance, when working with a student struggling with orbital mechanics, I began with simple circular motion on Earth, then gradually built up to elliptical orbits and gravitational interactions, using visual aids and real spacecraft examples to make the physics tangible. I believe in patient guidance through challenging concepts and providing practical strategies that extend beyond our tutoring sessions; empowering students to become independent learners who can tackle new problems with confidence.
Beyond traditional tutoring, I contributed significantly to corporate training at Verizon, where I received recognition for helping build their internal academy focused on upskilling consultants. My specific contributions included developing and teaching comprehensive courses on Business Economics and Communication Skills, working with professional adults to enhance their technical and interpersonal capabilities. This experience reinforced my belief that effective teaching requires connecting abstract concepts to practical, real-world applications that resonate with each individual learner.
