Dear,
My name is Arsen, and I graduated from the Physics and Mathematics Specialized School, affiliated with Yerevan State University. I went on to complete my Master’s degree in Physics/Biophysics at Yerevan State University (1995–2000) and earned my Ph.D. in Biology from Yerevan State Medical University in 2008, focusing on the effect of electromagnetic fields and pharmacological agents on the neuronal and myocardial membranes of snails.
Alongside my scientific work, I have always maintained a strong commitment to teaching and mentorship. I have over ten years of experience tutoring mathematics at all levels up to AP Calculus BC, and physics at both high school and college levels, including AP Physics 1, 2, and C (both Mechanics and Electricity & Magnetism). I have worked with students from elementary through high school, primarily in one-on-one tutoring contexts. Whether volunteering, teaching in Armenia, or informally supporting Duke students and my own children’s classmates, I find great joy in making complex material understandable and engaging.
My teaching philosophy is grounded in the belief that if a student does not understand a concept, it is my responsibility to find a better way to explain it. I view the ability to clearly teach a subject as evidence of deep understanding, and I always take time to master a topic before explaining it. If a student struggles with an idea, I adapt my approach until it resonates with them. My goal is not just to teach material, but to inspire confidence, curiosity, and a lasting interest in science and mathematics.
