Sergey graduated from Hunter College in 2022 as salutatorian (GPA: 3.99) with a BA in biology and a minor in psychology. Following his graduation, he began teaching at Blueprint Prep as an MCAT tutor in the transition from his undergraduate degree to his MD/PhD program. During his time as Blueprint Prep MCAT tutor, he worked closely with various students (one-on-one) using a digital learning environment. He formulated individual learning plans for each student based on an initial survey on their learning styles and the pace at which they feel would be most conducive to their learning. Based on the performance of students on their practice materials, Sergey adjusts the study plan to focus more on the content areas in which his students may need additional support. He welcomes suggestions from students to better tailor his teaching to their individual learning needs. This strategy employed by Sergey stems from his belief that doing well on the MCAT requires a combination of understanding the material and understanding oneself. With this perspective in mind, he loves to help students develop personalized strategies to improve their discipline, focus, and motivation during their MCAT studying journey. Sergey received a perfect 132 on the Bio/Biochem and the Psych/Soc sections and stresses the importance of having an in-depth understanding of foundational material before diving into the minute details. In his free time, he likes to read, rock climb, and play with his dog!
