Hello, I’m Lydia. My career in education brings me immense joy, and I have been working with students for 15 years. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from the University of Wyoming and a Master of Arts in Elementary Reading from Grand Canyon University. Additionally, I am certified in Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling (LETRS), which is rooted in the science of reading. I believe that reading and writing are fundamental to academics, and it is my mission to ensure all children have the opportunity to develop these essential skills.
My diverse career experiences reflect my passion for making a positive impact on children’s lives. After college, I worked for a nonprofit supporting young adults transitioning out of the foster care system, which led to a leadership role at an early childhood developmental center. Although community engagement and working with families were important, my true passion lies in creating learning experiences and working directly with children. I began my teaching career and have taught preschool (1 year), kindergarten (6 years), 3rd grade (1 year), and served as a certified K-6 math interventionist (3 years).
I would describe my teaching style as engaging, student-centered, and encouraging. As a creative thinker, I develop unique and interesting activities to make learning memorable and fun. I recognize that each student has their own learning style, so I tailor my lessons to meet their diverse needs. I am also committed to being uplifting and positive, providing encouragement and feedback to support students' growth.
