Hey my name is Daniel but feel free to call me Danny! I'm a recent college graduate from UNC-CH with a bachelor's degree in Biochemistry and Psychology and a minor in Biology. I received a full-ride to UNC-CH as a recipient of the Chancellor's Science Scholars program, a scholarship designed to give highly abled students who aspire to become leading PhD and MD/PhD scientists a head start in the field of math & science. I have experience tutoring my two younger brothers; one of which is currently at NC State studying Computer Science and the other currently in high school within the Wake County Public School system; in math, science, essay-writing, and standardized tests. Alongside my brothers, I have tutored high school, middle school, and college students alike within my church community.
My approach with tutoring is to build an independent, growth-focused student. I don't see studying as simply rote memorization, but as the process of developing the foundational skills necessary to adapt to increasing rigor that a student faces as they move through upper-level education. Through my personal experience and education in psychology, I understand the learning process requires patience regardless of the student's starting point and I strive to enhance the students physical and mental well-being as they pursue their career. I often ask my students questions and observe their thought process to find how they learn best.
