Bio

I've been teaching privately for close on 30 years now. My specialties are Microsoft Excel and Financial Accounting (often using Excel). I also teach Music Theory and Acoustic Guitar. I like to assist users with learning computer skills where necessary.

Teaching is not for everyone, but it's something that I really enjoy. It's very rewarding to equip someone else with the knowledge and the skills needed to move forward in the field that he or she has chosen to pursue.

I've been teaching privately for close on 30 years now. My specialties are Microsoft Excel and Financial Accounting (often using Excel). I also teach Music Theory and Acoustic Guitar. I like to assist users with learning computer skills where necessary.

Teaching is not for everyone, but it's something that I really enjoy. It's very rewarding to equip someone else with the knowledge and the skills needed to move forward in the field that he or she has chosen to pursue.

I've been working as an accountant since 1998 and teaching from around the same time. Accounting caught my fancy back when I was in high school -- I found the its clean, structured nature to be very appealing. Accounting also lends itself to utilizing the powerful and ubiquitous tool of the computer (in its various forms). I thrive in Excel - the best spreadsheet software out there, and one that is widely used in the accounting world.

I started playing the guitar in 1992, and have studied under several different teachers and at two different music colleges since then. My personal preference is the steel string acoustic guitar.

The aim of any skilled teacher (myself included) is to make himself redundant. It's therefore my aim to equip you with the skills that you need to learn new material without my assistance. While this is not a quick and easy project, it is nonetheless my goal. Let me help you on your way to becoming a self teacher!

While studying toward my Master's degree in Accounting, I held a job as the accountant of a retail store in Greensboro, NC. Since then I've held several other accounting jobs in various locations. I'm currently employed as a member of an accounting team for a national firm based in Raleigh, North Carolina. I've been teaching privately for close on 30 years, with a focus on accounting for the last ten years.

I started learning the piano at a young age, but did not pursue the instrument very actively. (I wish I had!) I picked up the guitar at around age 14 and continue to play it to this day. I started teaching music about 30 years ago and have taught ever since. I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in music from the California State University of Chico and furthered my studies (Master's degree completed) at the University of North Carolina in Greensboro. I live and teach in North Carolina.

I've been playing (and teaching) for around 30 years. While I love to to play the guitar, I also find teaching to be very satisfying. Although I played the electric guitar for several years, the instrument that I prefer is the acoustic guitar, particularly the steel string acoustic. It can be rewarding to make music by yourself; also rewarding to play with others. Similar skills are involved, but learning to play alone is usually the best place to start. It's never to early (or too late!) to start. Let me help you get a grip on how to think and how to play the guitar. I've had successful students young and old, so don't let your age be a deciding factor. Curiosity and determination are the deciding factors. Bring those and we'll get you headed in the right direction! I have my B.A. in Music from California State University and an M.S. degree from the University of North Carolina. I live and teach in North Carolina.

Excel is quite possibly the best tool for anyone working with numbers, but learning how to use it can be an enormous challenge! Excel has over 500 functions available for calculations -- where to start?? I'm an Excel junkie! I've been working with spreadsheets for over 30 years now and I definitely don't feel that I know everything there is to know! Let me help you figure out how best to approach the project that you're working on now, plus let me enable you to tackle other projects in the future. I want to empower you to find your own way around this fantastic tool that we'll be learning about together.

Microsoft Word can well be described as a feisty beasty. While not the friendliest of roommates, knowing the right language and a few tricks can help him/her/it to be consoled. I have been using Word for 25+ years and would be glad to have you get to know them better.

Understanding music theory is comparable to knowing what all those gizmos do when you look under the hood of a car. Figuring out what happens in there can be very satisfying! Of course it takes a while to learn how all the elements of music theory work, but I'd be glad to help you in that direction. I have a B.A. degree in Music from California State University and I've been teadching privately since 1995.
